First Preason Game

Just to name a few players that will be playing for the Twins on March 3rd against the Tampa Bay Rays. The Twins have many pitchers on hand so I'll just name a few; Scott Baker, Nick Blackburn, Alex Burnett, Matt Capps, ect. They have three catchers; Drew Butera, Ryan Doumit, and Joe Mauer. They also have several infielders, Jamey Carroll, Alexi Casilla, Luke Hughes, Justin Murneau, Tsuyoshi Nishioka, ect. Finally the outfielders; Oswaldo Arcia, Joe Benson, Darin Mastroianni, Ben Revere, Denard Span, ect.

The first game will be more fun then competition because it's every one's first game back. I really don't know how the game will go, but I do know the Rays are really good. Last year they made it into to the playoffs so we'll see how it goes. The Twins are coming off one of there worst season and it wasn't because they suck it was the fact that so many players were injured.

Catcher

Joe Mauer is the Minnesota Twins catcher and sometimes first baseman. He was born April 19,1983 in the Capitol of Minnesota. He went to and played football, basketball, and baseball for Saint Puals Cretin-Derham High School. His senior year he was the only player ever to be selected as the USA Today High School Player of the Year in two sports; Football and Baseball. He was a stud in every thing he did; football he had a 62% completion percentage as a quarterback, threw for 3,022 yards, 41 touchdowns, and only 5 interceptions. Basketball, scored more then 20 points per game, and was selected twice on the All-State team. Baseball, He only struck out once during his senior year, had a .605 hitting rate his senior year.

In 2001 he turned down a scholarship to go play football for Florida State University instead he joined the Major League Baseball draft. The Twins picked him up in the 1st overall pick ahead of Mark Prior. Mauer was at the 2003 United States All Star Futures Game before being promoted in the 2004 Twins Roster, but suffered a knee injury. He was sidlined for a month and in 2005 he signed a 5.7 million deal with the Twins and has played ever since. He is one of the MVP for the Twins and will be returning the 2012 year.
