Ronald Gardenhire born on October 24, 1957. He was born on a Army base in West Germany on a couch. He was expected to join the military by his family but his love for baseball was also encouraged by his father. His family later located in Oklahoma where he attended Okmulgee High School, then went Paris Junior College, then later went to the University of Texas at Austin. He id married to Carol, they have three boys and two girls.
He was drafted in the 6th round in1979 in the amateur draft. He played five seasons with the New York Mets from '81 to '85. H got set back many times by injuries only twice did he play more then 70 games once in '82 and then in '84. He played shortstop, second base, and third base. Following the '86 season he was traded to the Minnesota Twins, where he played one year with the Triple-A's and then he retired.
