Pitcher

 Nick Blackburn born February 24, 1982 in Ada, Oklahoma. He graduated from Dell City High School in Del City, Oklahoma. He attended Seminole State College and in 2000 he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 34th round of amateur draft. The Twins then Drafted him in the 29th round in 2001 amateur draft. From 2002 till 2007 he pitched for the Twins minor league, and in 2007 he had his best season. He was ranked as the Twins number one prospect in Baseball America.

On September 3, 2007 he pitched his first major league game and pitched one perfect inning as a relief pitcher. He pitched six games as a relief pitcher in 2007 earning a 7.71 Earned Run Average. In 2008's spring training he earned a starting spot by posting a 3.00 ERA. He finished 2008's season with an ERA of 4.05 with 96 strikeouts earning a 11-11 record. In 2010's season he did good in the beginning but was opted to minor leagues because they needed to make room for new acquired Matt Capps.. He was recalled to replace Kevin Slowey and started  two more games. In 2011 he pitched several strong games but towards the end of July his pitching started getting iffy. His final appearance was on August 21st, leaving after one and a half innings with a forearm injury. He had a 7-10 record with a 4.49 ERA to finish off the season.

  1. Sounds like he was pretty good, so it's strange he was put back to the minors. Is he coming back for the next season?
